The name "Dena" represents the combined regions of Altadena and Pasadena, two communities with a rich history and deep connection to the San Gabriel Valley. Altadena – Meaning “high land” in Spanish, it sits at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. Pasadena – Once home to the Tongva people, it later became renowned for its cultural and architectural legacy.
HOLD Dena: Better in Our Hands" is a consortium of clergy leaders, community members and nonprofit organizations that believe in that the future of Dena is best decided by those who love the community and are invested in ensuring that it and the people that call it home thrive. Born out of the community’s urgent need to heal from the devastation caused by recent wildfires. The project’s name reflects the collective effort to protect, restore, and revive this region as it recovers and rebuilds from disaster.
Our mission is to restore dignity and support the recovery and rebuilding of the Dena community, including Altadena and Pasadena, after devastating wildfires.
A revitalized Dena, where every family and business thrives, supported by strong, sustainable community ties.
